BADFINGER - CARRY ON TILL TOMORROW (1970)

Album:  Magic Christian Music (1970)

My friend Zender Millar had this album at his house when we grew up.  It is one of the first records I ever heard around age 8 or 9.   He eventually gave me the record about 10 years later but in the meantime due to the Beatles connection Badfinger would be one of the first bands I was exposed to and really loved.   For a long time I said they were truly the worlds greatest "rock and roll" band.

November 30th 1991 - my #3 favorite daily song for 6 days at age 20 while in 3rd year University

Badfinger were a British rock band consisting originally of Pete Ham, Ron Griffiths, Mike Gibbins and Tom Evans; active from 1968 to 1983, and evolving from The Iveys; formed by Ham, Griffiths and David "Dai" Jenkins in Swansea, Wales, in the early 1960s. Joey Molland joined the group in 1969, following the departure of Griffiths. Signed by The Beatles' Apple label in 1968 as The Iveys, they adopted the name Badfinger in 1969. Badfinger had four consecutive worldwide hits in 1970 and 1971: "Come and Get It" (written and produced by Paul McCartney), "No Matter What", "Day After Day", and "Baby Blue". The Ham/Evans-penned Badfinger song, "Without You", became a Billboard number one hit for Harry Nilsson.

Magic Christian Music is an album by band Badfinger, released in early 1970 on Apple Records. Three tracks from the LP are featured in the film The Magic Christian, which also gives the album its title. However, Magic Christian Music is not an official soundtrack album for the film

PAUL McCARTNEY - PROMISE TO YOU GIRL (2005)

Album:  Chaos And Creation In The Backyard (2005)

I bought this CD new in 2005 but never opened it for over a year until December 2006 at age 35 when I was on a break from Valerie and Nicholas was 8 months old.

January 1st 2007 - my #7 favorite daily song for 17 days including my 36th birthday.

Chaos and Creation in the Backyard is the thirteenth solo studio album by Paul McCartney released in 2005. A long time in the making, the set was produced by Radiohead and Beck collaborator Nigel Godrich at George Martin's suggestion.   McCartney plays almost all of the instruments, similar to his 1970 album McCartney and the 1980 McCartney II album. In addition, Chaos And Creation In The Backyard marks the first time since 1984's Give My Regards to Broad Street that McCartney was not involved in producing one of his studio albums.   Chaos and Creation in the Backyard was McCartney's last rock album release for longtime label EMI. He signed a deal with Hear Music, owned by Starbucks, in March 2007.
Advance reviews for Chaos and Creation in the Backyard were very strong and signified that after delivering Flaming Pie, Run Devil Run, Driving Rain and this album — all in uninterrupted succession — McCartney is in a late-career creative peak. Many critics and longtime listeners also acknowledged that the album was unusually reflective and intimate-sounding for McCartney. The sudden shift in direction was generally considered an unexpected and welcome surprise, and resulted in three Grammy nominations for the album, including the nomination for Album of the Year.  In the United States, Chaos and Creation in the Backyard debuted at the number-six on the Billboard 200 with sales of 91,545 copies. The album also entered the top ten in the UK, spending 3 weeks on the chart. According to EMI, it has sold 1.3 million copies worldwide
    THE COWSILLS - HAIR (1969) hit #2
Hair" is the title song to the 1968 musical Hair, as well as the 1979 film version of the musical.

The song was a major hit single for The Cowsills in 1969 and their most successful single. Their version spent two weeks at #1 on the Cash Box Top 100 and reached #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also reached #1 on the RPM Canadian Singles Chart.

The song was also covered in Australia in 1969 and released as a single by Doug Parkinson in Focus (b-side with "Without You") and was a top ten hit for him there that year.

A version by Dutch rock band Zen reached the top of the Dutch Top 40 in January 1969

The Cowsills is an American singing group from Newport, Rhode Island. They specialized in harmonies and the ability to sing and play music at an early age. The band was formed in the spring of 1965 by brothers Bill, Bob, and Barry, then shortly thereafter added John. Originally Bill and Bob played guitar and Barry was on drums, then John learned how to play drums and joined the band, so Barry went to bass. After their initial success, the brothers were later joined by their siblings Susan and Paul and their mother Barbara. Bob's twin brother Richard was the road manager. When the group expanded to its full family membership by 1967, the six siblings ranged in age from 8 to 19. Joined by their mother Barbara, the Cowsills were the inspiration for the 1970 launch of the television show The Partridge Family

YES - OWNER OF A LONELY HEART (1984) hit #1
Owner of a Lonely Heart" is a song by the progressive rock band Yes. It is the opening track of their 1983 album 90125. Written primarily by Trevor Rabin, the song reached number one on the United States Billboard Hot 100 — to date Yes's biggest chart success. Since then, it has seen many releases; the original release had "Our Song" as the B-side, while others had various B-sides such as "Leave It", "Make It Easy", and remixes of this song.

"Owner of a Lonely Heart" was, according to a radio interview with Yes in 1991 (during the Union tour), originally written as a ballad, not as the rock song that became famous. Jon Anderson convinced producer Trevor Horn to speed it up and add some guitar riffs to make it stand out and be more "upbeat". However, as the next paragraph states, Trevor Rabin had already recorded an upbeat demo version of this song before Jon Anderson and Trevor Horn joined the 90125 project, so this story is probably not true.

A demo version of the song can be found on Rabin's album 90124, with the original, quite different, pre-chorus verse and a jazz fusion keyboard solo reminiscent of Chick Corea.

The orchestra and drum samples were lifted from Funk, Inc.'s "Kool is Back".

The biggest major legacy of the track is arguably the beginnings of ZTT Records and the electronic group The Art Of Noise; as well as being a former member of Yes, Trevor Horn served the role of one of the band's producers during the recording of 90125 and "Owner of a Lonely Heart". With him were Gary Langan, J.J. Jeczalik and Anne Dudley, all working with Horn as his production team, in the roles of engineers and arrangers. Taking samples and loops directly from these Yes recording sessions (as well as work done on Malcolm McLaren's Duck Rock), the team subsequently formed the Art Of Noise under the auspice of Trevor Horn, becoming the first signed act of his ZTT Records label. The crunching stabs, orchestral samples and thunderous drums of "Owner of a Lonely Heart" can be heard in the Art Of Noise's initial recordings.

PAUL McCARTNEY & WINGS - CROSSROADS THEME (1975)

Album:  Venus And Mars (1975)

I likely had this album by 1983 at age 12 but I spent considerable time playing these songs on the piano and singing the entire album as I had received the guitar/piano songbook in 1984 at Ruth Street making this possibly my most well known album by McCartney.   I had no daily song charts pre-1987 so there is documentation on which were my favorite McCartney songs when I first learned his albums.

Wings' interpretation of the theme to Crossroads, a British soap opera, was sometimes used to end the show in place of the regular theme tune, usually when there was a cliffhanger ending with a hint of sadness involved.

Venus and Mars is the fourth album by Wings. Released as the follow-up to the enormously successful Band on the Run, Venus and Mars continued Wings' string of success and would prove a springboard for a year-long worldwide tour. It was Paul McCartney's first post-Beatles release under the Capitol Records label.

After recording Band on the Run as a three-piece with wife Linda and guitarist Denny Laine, McCartney added Jimmy McCulloch on lead guitar and Geoff Britton on drums to the Wings line-up in 1974. Having written several new songs for the next album, McCartney decided upon New Orleans, Louisiana as the recording venue, and Wings headed there in January 1975.

LADY GAGA - BOYS BOYS BOYS (2009)

Album: The Fame (2009)

Valerie surprised me for tickets to Lady Gaga for Xmas 2010.  We saw her in New York on April 24th 2011. My wife bought scalped tickets for about $250 a ticket.  We took a $120.00 cab ride from Times Square to the concert which was far south east.  We had main floor seats and the show was full of theatrical and unusual performances but was the highlight of the trip for me as I had become such a fan of hers since Bad Romance and Telephone became two of my favorites the year before.

The Fame is the debut studio album by American recording artist Lady Gaga. It was released on August 19, 2008 through Interscope Records. After joining Kon Live Distribution and Cherrytree Records in 2008, Gaga began working on the album with different producers, primarily RedOne, Martin Kierszenbaum and Rob Fusari. Musically, The Fame is a dance-pop and synthpop album that has influences of pop music from the 1980s. Lyrically, the album visualizes Gaga's love of fame in general whilst also dealing with subjects such as love, sex, money, drugs and sexual identity. Promotion was primarily through The Fame Ball Tour and multiple television appearances. The Fame was included as a bonus disc on the deluxe edition of the extended play, The Fame Monster (2009).

    KENNY LOGGINS - I'M ALRIGHT (1980) hit #7

Kenneth Clark "Kenny" Loggins (born January 7, 1948) is an American singer and songwriter. He is known for soft rock music beginning during the 1970s, and later for writing and performing for movie soundtracks in the 1980s. Originally a part of the duo Loggins and Messina, he became a solo artist and has written songs for other artists

During the next decade, Loggins recorded so many successful songs for film soundtracks that he was referred to as, "King of the Movie Soundtrack". He began with "I'm Alright" (#7 in the U.S.), "Mr. Night", and "Lead the Way" from Caddyshack. Hits followed with "Footloose" and "I'm Free (Heaven Helps the Man)" from Footloose; "Meet Me Halfway" from Over the Top; and "Danger Zone" and "Playing With the Boys" from Top Gun. Loggins also performed "Nobody's Fool" from the film Caddyshack II. He also performed as a member of USA for Africa on the famine-relief fundraising single "We Are the World".

During the 1990s, Loggins continued his album career, including the popular 1994 children's album Return to Pooh Corner, which included the title single, a reworking of "House at Pooh Corner", written for his newborn son Luke.

During 1991, Loggins recorded and produced Leap of Faith, which included the single "Conviction of the Heart". Former vice president Al Gore billed this song as "the unofficial anthem of the environmental movement". On Earth Day 1995, Loggins performed at The National Mall in Washington, D.C. before a live audience of 500,000.

    SPIRIT - WHEN I TOUCH YOU (1970)

Album:  12 Dreams Of Dr. Sardonicus (1970)

I bought this album in February 1988 at age 17 in Grade 12 and did not know this band at all but took a chance buying this used record for $2.00 at Tramps record shop downtown on 3rd Avenue.  Not only did it become one of my favorite albums of all time but also helped make Spirit the most important band to me as an adult and an influence on my own songwriting style and my 2nd favorite group ever.

Spirit have now had more #1 songs on my daily songs chart than any other act ever.  19 different #1's since starting the chart in 1987. (25 years ago)   They also have had the most top 10 songs than any other group during the past 25 years of my daily song charts - a whopping 120 different times they have entered the top 10 with a song.   Unlike The Beatles, Yes, Klaatu, Roy Wood and others whom I liked before I started my charts, Spirit has luckily been 100% documented ever since discovering them in 1988.

February 18th 1988 - my #7 favorite daily song for 4 days at age 17.

March 2nd 1989 - my #10 favorite daily song for 2 days at age 18 the year after graduating.

Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus is the fourth album by the American psychedelic rock group Spirit. It was produced by David Briggs, who is best known for his work with Neil Young. The original LP was released in 1970 by Epic. It peaked at #63 on the Billboard 200 in February 1971 -- the band's lowest charting album to that point -- and spent 14 weeks on the chart. However, with strong catalog sales it also became the band's only album to be certified Gold in the U.S., achieving that status in 1976.  "Nature's Way" became one of Spirit's signature songs, but was not a big hit at the time, peaking at #111 on the Billboard pop charts in 1971. In 1973, the B-side of "Nature's Way", "Mr. Skin", also charted, peaking at #92.
    SNOW - ENGELBERT (1968)

Album: Snow (1968)

September 16th 1988 - my #2 favorite daily song for 4 days at age 17 the fall after graduating high school on my marathon of playing all 1968 music for its 20th anniversary.

Released on the Epic imprint in 1968 (BN26435), the sole, eponymous release by the Cleveland, Ohio outfit Snow, although being very much a record redolent of the period, is also an album of two halves. On the original record, side 1 kicks off with the band's attempt to infiltrate the singles chart with 'Where Has My Old Friend Billy Jones Gone', a folk-psych effort featuring a female vocalist brought in for the occasion, and who's influences clearly included Grace Slick amongst others. The side builds momentum, with its melodic harmonies and short, incisive guitar solos setting the scene for the brilliant Englebert and the clever tempo changes of 'You Let Me Know'. Side 2 is even better, starting with piercing guitar on 'Song Of The Sirens' and culminating with the outstanding 'Caterpillar' which, in the space of three minutes, escorts the listener through a plethora of sound effects, key changes and bold experimentation which still sounds as 'cutting edge' as anything comparable from the period.

    TWISTED SISTER - I WANNA ROCK (1984)

Album: Stay Hungry (1984)

I could have been in the video of this song as it was aimed at my age and demographic specifically as I was in Grade 9 at age 13 and I even had a Twisted Sister poster I got out of a rock magazine.  I bought Circus and Hit Parader every single month about 1984 to 1986.  I had also bought up all the 1970's old back issues from 8th Street Books - they had about 100 issues from 1971 to 1984 and I bought them all mostly for about $1.50 each.   Valerie and I had a chance to see Twisted Sister live in New York in 2011 but decided not to go as I only liked 2 hits.

I Wanna Rock" is a song from the album Stay Hungry (1984) by American heavy metal band Twisted Sister. In 2009 it was named the 17th VH1 Greatest Hard Rock Songs by VH1. The song was also covered by the pop punk band Lit on 2001 Twisted Sister tribute album, Twisted Forever.

Like the earlier "We're Not Gonna Take It", the video features actor Mark Metcalf, best known as the sadistic Neidermeyer from the movie Animal House. Here, he plays a ferocious teacher who harasses a student for drawing the Twisted Sister logo on a book, shrieking: "What kind of a man desecrates a defenseless textbook?! I've got a good mind to slap your fat face!!" (echoing his line from Animal House: "What kind of man hits a defenseless animal [a misbehaving horse]? I've got a good mind to smash your fat face in."). After his attempts to stop his rock-loving students fail, he crawls into the principal's office – only to be confronted by the principal, played by Stephen Furst (Flounder from Animal House). Furst even gets to reprise one of his big lines from the movie: "Oh boy, is this great!" as he squirts water at the mean teacher.

    SPIRIT - DIAMOND SPIRIT (1976)

Album:  Farther Along (1976)

April 22nd 1988 - my #3 favorite daily song for 3 days at age 17 while in Grade 12.  I was on a classical music tour to Banff, SK to the music resort with the Saskatoon Youth Orchestra rooming with violinist Darcy Burback.   I listened to this album non-stop on that trip.   I hung out a lot with Rosalind at that time.

Farther Along was the third album that Spirit released through Mercury Records. Though Jay Ferguson was missing from the lineup, it is generally considered to be their first "reunion" album.  Out of the four albums that Spirit recorded for Mercury in the mid-70s, this one is the least influenced by Randy California's time in Hawaii. However, it isn't too dissimilar from the previous two albums in that regard, though the song structures are very tight throughout. Consequently, it also bears more than a passing resemblance to Clear at times, probably because of John Locke's presence in the group. It is particularly cherished by fans of that album. The album also includes a notable version of Nature's Way, which is arranged for a chamber orchestra.

Spirit was an American jazz/hard rock/progressive rock/psychedelic band founded in 1967, based in Los Angeles, California.  The original lineup of the group evolved from an earlier Los Angeles band, The Red Roosters, which included Randy California (guitars, vocals), Mark Andes (bass) and Jay Ferguson (vocals, percussion). With the addition of California's stepfather Ed Cassidy (drums), and keyboard player John Locke the new band was originally named the Spirits Rebellious (after a book by Khalil Gibran) but was soon shortened simply to Spirit. In 1966 Randy California had also played with Jimi Hendrix (then known as Jimmy James) in his band, The Blue Flame

NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK - TONIGHT (1990) hit #7
Tonight" is a 1990 song recorded by the American pop band New Kids on the Block. Every member of the band sung lead vocals on this song. It was their second single from their 1990 album Step by Step. It was a big hit on both sides of the Atlantic. It first reached #7 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, and then went on to reach #3 on the UK Singles Chart soon after its American success, giving the band another hit, as, at this point, they were at their commercial peak.

The song is "half slow tempo, half ska"] It is "autobiographical" and "discusses the relationship that binds the members of the group to their fans, since the beginning", with many references to their first hits in the first couplet.

New Kids on the Block (also initialized as NKOTB) are an American boy band from Boston, Massachusetts, assembled in 1984 by producer Maurice Starr. The band consists of brothers Jordan and Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, and Danny Wood.

New Kids on the Block enjoyed success in the late 1980s and early 1990s and have sold 80 million records worldwide. They won two American Music Awards in 1990 for Favorite Pop/Rock Band, Duo, or Group and Favorite Pop/Rock Album.

After having disbanded in 1994, several attempts were made to get the group back together, all of them unsuccessful. After secretly reuniting in 2007 and recording a new CD, the group released that new album and embarked on a concert tour in 2008. The album, entitled The Block was released on September 2, 2008. New Kids on the Block was enlisted number 16 as one of the Rolling Stone's Top 25 Teen Idol Breakout Moments

ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA - FIRE ON HIGH (1975)
Fire on High" is the opening instrumental track from the 1975 Electric Light Orchestra album Face the Music.

The song was the UK B-side to the band's worldwide hit single Livin' Thing, issued in blue vinyl. It was also later included — in an edited form minus the backwards vocals — as the flip side of the United States hit single Sweet Talkin' Woman in 1978.

The album version contains an opening with a subliminal message. When the song is played backwards, the message, in a masked heavy voice (performed by ELO drummer, Bev Bevan), can be heard stating, "The music is reversible but time is not. Turn back. Turn back. Turn back. Turn back." — ostensibly Jeff Lynne's shot at backmasking hysteria, after satanic allegations were made against their song Eldorado by Fundamentalist Christianity members. Snippets of Messiah by Handel can be heard during the album opening as well.

Fire on High was used as the opening theme for the CBS Sports Spectacular TV show in the Mid-1970s. In 2000, The New Jersey Devils used, along with video clips, the song Fire on High in an opening ceremony to all its games. Much of the song was also played prior to every Atlanta Thrashers home game.

Despite being almost entirely instrumental, the song's title can be faintly heard near the end of the track by the chanting chorus

Face the Music is the fifth studio album by Electric Light Orchestra. ELO's fifth studio LP was released in 1975 and the first to be recorded in Musicland Studios Munich. The band featured a new line-up with bassist Kelly Groucutt and cellist Melvyn Gale replacing Mike de Albuquerque and Mike Edwards respectively.

HENRY MANCINI - WHITE ON WHITE (1962)

Album:  Experiment In Terror (Soundtrack) (1962)

One of my all time favorite instrumental / soundtrack albums.  I knew this album for years before I actually watched the movie for the first time which is worth seeing.

Enrico Nicola "Henry" Mancini (April 16, 1924 – June 14, 1994) was an American composer, conductor and arranger, best remembered for his film and television scores. He won a record number of Grammy Awards, plus a posthumous Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1995. His best-known works include the jazz-idiom theme to The Pink Panther film series ("The Pink Panther Theme") and the theme to the Peter Gunn television series. Mancini had a long collaboration with the film director Blake Edwards and won numerous Academy Awards for the songs in Edwards films including "Moon River" from Breakfast at Tiffany's, "Days of Wine and Roses" and for the score to Victor Victoria.

Experiment in Terror is a 1962 suspense-thriller released by Columbia Pictures. It was directed by Blake Edwards and written by Mildred Gordon and Gordon Gordon based on their 1961 novel Operation Terror. The film stars Glenn Ford, Lee Remick, Stefanie Powers and Ross Martin.

A psychotic killer, Garland "Red" Lynch, uses a campaign of terror to force San Francisco bank teller Kelly Sherwood to steal $100,000 from the bank for him. Despite his threat to kill her or her teenaged sister Toby if she goes to the police, Sherwood contacts the San Francisco office of the FBI, where agent John Ripley takes charge of the case.

SPIRIT - VICTIM OF SOCIETY (1975)

Album:  Spirit Of 76 (1975)

January 18th 1991 - my #6 favorite daily song for 1 day at age 20 in 2nd year University.  I played bass guitar in the band The Smoking Crawdads with Mark Rogstad, Gerard Saretsky and Jed Evans since October 1990.   I listened to this album continously in Nanny's old bedroom that I was now staying in at Taylor Street using my sister Leslie's little portable record player.

Spirit of '76, released in May 1975, was the first of four albums that Spirit would (initially) release for Mercury Records. Though all four albums were greatly influenced by the time that Randy California spent living in Hawaii, this album bears that influence more than any of the others (aside from maybe Future Games). Though it was largely ignored upon its first release, many fans consider it to be one of Spirit's best albums.   Most of this double album was compiled as part of the Mercury Years compilation in 1997. It was properly reissued on CD by Beat Goes On in 2003.

ZAGER AND EVANS - DURING REM (1970)

Album: Zager And Evans (1970)

I discovered Zager and Evans through their major #1 song In The Year 2525.  They were one-hit wonders but I had an album by them which did not include that song.  So it turned out to be their 2nd album but wow I just loved it enough that I have boosted the album up my charts at least 3 different years.   This was the 4th of 4 #1 hits Zager And Evans have had on my daily #1 chart.

May 6th 1988 - my #2 favorite daily song for 8 days at age 17 in Grade 12 at Nutana Collegiate.

Zager & Evans was a Lincoln, Nebraska, rock-pop duo of the late 1960s and early 1970s named after its two members, Denny Zager and Rick Evans.  "In the Year 2525", with lyrics by Evans and music by Zager, warned of the dangers of technology, portraying a future in which the human race was destroyed by its own technological and medical innovations. The last stanza of the song suggests mankind undergoes a continuing cycle of birth, death and rebirth.

"In the Year 2525" hit number one on the Hot 100 in 1969. It claimed the #1 spot for six weeks. It also topped the charts in the UK. It was number one on July 20, 1969, in the United States, the date of the first manned moon landing, by astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin. It continued to top the charts while the Woodstock Festival was going on, forever cementing "2525" in the minds of a generation. It was nominated for a special Hugo Award that same year. It sold over four million copies by 1970 and was awarded a gold disc by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in July 1969.  RCA thought they were onto the "The Next Big Thing", but follow-up singles, such as "Mr. Turnkey" (a song about a rapist who nails his own wrist to the jail wall as punishment for his crime) went largely unnoticed by the public. "In the Year 2525" was their only Hot 100 entry.

    XYLON COZENS - EVEN I KNOW (1995)

Album:  Xylon I (1995)

Xylon Cozens was a childhood friend of mine who was highly influenced by 60's recording with great vocal harmonies such as The Beach Boys.  He had been a member of the accapella vocal group Streetnix.   He began songwriting and came up with some amazing truly original songs and sounds. Recording this album in Saskatoon, SK, Canada in 1995.  His album featured many guest musicians such as his father Nigel Cozens playing guitar tracks.    Some intricate layered vocal harmonies throughout the album which I really liked with some unpleasant sounding chords at times.   I was there for his CD release party.   He had originally recorded some demo's for this album on my 8-track cassette Tascam recorder which I used to rent to him.  I had done a slide guitar track for him but don't know what song it was.  Xylon had formerly been a vocal singer in the accapella group Streetnix from September 1991 to December 1992 at the time I was in 3rd year University.

February 13th 1996 - my #4 favorite daily song for 223 days at age 25 while I was on the road performing with Marilyn now for 2.5 years.  This year I borrowed money from my grandma and bought my very own computer for the first time ever after sharing Marilyn's for the past year so that I could input comic book price guide value details in spreadsheets and also work on printing lyrics for our live show and for doing promotional materials for Marilyn.

    ACE FREHLEY - SNOWBLIND (1978)

Album:  Ace Frehley (1978)

I had this 45 rpm around 1984 at age 13.  The B side to New York Groove from the Kiss solo albums.

Ace Frehley is a 1978 solo album from Ace Frehley, the lead guitarist and vocalist of American hard rock band Kiss. It was one of four solo albums released by the members of Kiss on September 18, 1978.  The album featured Anton Fig on drums. He later performed session work on the Kiss albums Dynasty and Unmasked, and later became a member of Ace Frehley's band Frehley's Comet. Fig along with Will Lee, who played bass on three tracks on the album, became permanent members of Paul Shaffer's band on Late Night with David Letterman and Late Show with David Letterman.   "New York Groove", which was first recorded in 1975 by British glam rock band Hello, rose to #13 on the US Billboard chart This was the highest chart placement for a Kiss single since "Beth" in 1976, until the song "I Was Made for Lovin' You" a year later (#11). The album reached #26 on the US Billboard album chart. It was certified Platinum on October 2, 1978 and shipped over 1,000,000 copies.   Allmusic gave the album 4 stars out of 5 and said, "Of the four Kiss solo albums, the best of the bunch is Ace Frehley's".   Two tracks from the album, "Rip It Out" and "Snow Blind", were covered by the Chemical People and Skin Yard, respectively, on Hard to Believe: Kiss Covers Compilation.
    ANNE MURRAY - DAVID'S SONG (1968)

Album: What About Me (1968)

I had this album for a long time but never had the actual cover so just had the vinyl but really liked this late 60's psych folk flavored album cut from her debut album.

What About Me is the debut studio album by Anne Murray issued in 1968 on Arc Records. Upon its release, the album was only issued in Canada (it would later be issued in the U.S., following Murray's 1970s chart success there).

Morna Anne Murray CC ONS (born June 20, 1945) is a multiple award-winning Canadian singer in pop, country and adult contemporary music whose albums have sold over 54 million copies worldwide as of 2012.   Murray was the first Canadian female solo singer to reach No. 1 on the U.S. charts, and also the first to earn a Gold record for one of her signature songs, "Snowbird" (1970).     CHRIS BROWN - YEAH 3X (2011)

Album:  FAME (2011)

January 22nd 2011 - my #1 favorite current top 40 hit for 4 weeks.   He had been under controversy about getting airplay after he supposedly hit girlfriend Rihanna.

February 11th 2011 - my #7 favorite daily song for 42 days at age 40.

"Yeah 3x" is a song by American recording artist Chris Brown. It was written by Brown, Justin Franks, Kevin McCall, Amber Streeter, and Adam Richard Wiles, and produced by DJ Frank E. The song was released as the lead single from Brown's fourth studio album F.A.M.E. on October 25, 2010. Brown recorded the song for his pop audience as he had been doing a lot of mixtapes and urban records.

Musically, "Yeah 3x" is an uptempo dance-pop, Europop, and electro-house song; it uses a video game-type beat and features a thick bassline and big synth chords. Critical reception towards the song was positive, with critics praising its production and lyrics. Other critics noted its similarities to Brown's 2008 single "Forever". However, its comparisons to Calvin Harris' 2009 single "I'm Not Alone" led to controversy. The song charted in several countries, including Australia, Austria, Belgium (Flanders region), Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, where it all attained top 10 positions. "Yeah 3x" also reached the top 20 in Canada, Norway, Slovakia and Sweden. In the United States, it peaked at number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100, and number seven on the Pop Songs chart. As of February 2011, "Yeah 3x" has sold 1,000,000 digital copies in the US.
