Antique Stereo Scope 3-D Photo Viewer Whiting View Company Plus 29 Photo cards stereoscope $150.00 for viewer with 29 cards (over 100 years old!)
|
Antique Stereo Scope 3-D Photo Viewer with 29 Photo Cards. I am not sure who the viewer is made by, there is etched writing on the back, but it is hard to make out. My son thinks the date is 1837 or something like that. From all that I have seen I would say it is from the 1800's. The photo cards are from The Whiting View Company, Cincinnati, Ohio, Twentieth Century Series, Copyright, 1901 by R.R. Whiting, 1897 by T.D. Rush, 1900 Whiting Bros., S.V. Courtney, 1896. To me the viewer has a very primitive look, floral etched tin eye piece that did have velvet trim, edges are a little dented, square lenses, one of the card holder pins is missing on one end, card still can be viewed, some of the wood finish is worn off . There are 4-color cards, the rest black & white, they range from pictures of children, floral, places of interest: Interior of Steamer on the Ohio, The White House, Golden Gate Yellowstone, Finest Boulevard in America, Baltimore, Mirror View, Forest Park, St. Louis, Broadway, Baltimore, Sunken Gardens, Philidelphia, Ice Bridge Below Niagara Falls. Presidents & people of interest: Pres. & Mrs McKinley, People waiting to see their dead Pres.? at Canton, Ohio, Sept. 18. 1901, Flowers at McKinley's Funeral, Another Ex-Pres. funeral at Indianapolis, William Goebel of Kentucky Fame, Mr & Mrs W.J. Bryan, Campo Santo, Laeken, Belguim. Lot of interesting old photos, all on hard thick cardboard, most in fairly Good condition. |
