The history of BLACK MASK Comics  by Terry Hoknes    9/3/15

High quality stories and artwork, high quality paper stock and printing and small print runs has made Black Mask the new #1 most popular small indie publisher in the comic collecting world in 2015.

Here is a complete index to all their releases so far chronologically.

Black Mask Studios is a comic book and graphic novel publishing company formed by Matt PizzoloSteve Niles and Brett Gurewitz, designed as a new infrastructure to support comic book creators and a new pipeline for transgressive art.   On March 20, 2012, it was announced that Occupy Comics, the charity comic book inspired by and raising funds for Occupy Wall Street, organized by Pizzolo, would not be released through an existing comic book publisher, but through a new company called Black Mask Studios.   Niles and Gurewitz joined with Pizzolo to found Black Mask.[4][5] Pizzolo has explained that Black Mask will operate under the mottos "to create you must destroy" and "Inspire, never meddle".   On June 12, 2012, Black Mask Studios opened its webstore and officially released Occupy Comics #1 with the announcement that Pulitzer Prize-winner Art SpiegelmanBill AyersRyan Alexander-TannerJimmy Palmiotti, and Matt Bors had joined the book's roster.   On September 17, 2012, the one-year anniversary of Occupy Wall Street, Occupy Comics #2 was released to the project's Kickstarter backers and via the Black Mask Studios website. The cover featured a new and iconic illustration by V For Vendetta artist David Lloyd pitting his seminal character V against the Wall Street Charging Bull.   Nearly a year later, on February 14, 2013, Black Mask Studios unveiled its first slate of comics with a two-pronged distribution strategy of supplying comics to traditional comic book shops as well as direct-to-fan through digital-physical hybrid subscriptions

As our intrepid, damaged heroes embark on a suicide mission to stop the crazy cultists, even they wonder if this is all really happening or if they're just plain crazy. Probably both. The latest project from Curt Pires (POP) sees him teaming with art sensation Chris Peterson (Grindhouse) for a story that cuts to the very center of Hollywood mythology and depravity itself.

This is no ordinary cult though. In the near future of The Disciples, the ultra-wealthy have become true Masters of the Universe by colonizing moons throughout the solar system. Billionaire industrialist McCauley Richmond is one such colonist: he's built a new society on Ganymede, a moon of Jupiter, where his flock of cultists can have the religious freedom to worship him. But when the team reaches Ganymede in their StarshipVenture, they discover something has gone horribly wrong ... This ghost story in space reunites comics' king of the macabre, Steve Niles, with his longtime collaborator Christopher Mitten, whose stylish mix of grit and flow matches Steve's sharp characterizations and taste for screams.

An all-new miniseries by Amancay Nahuelpan (Young Terrorists, Boy-1, Robocop).
XED #1 (MR) October 2015 1 2
(W) Tony Patrick (A/CA) Ayhan Hayrula
A sci-fi thriller about a next-gen form of psychiatry: "subliminal hitmen" injected into your mind who hunt down and kill the demons that haunt you. Ex-military sharpshooter Colin McClure is Mezign Corporation's most recent recruit for the still-experimental (and often deadly) job of subliminal hitman. McClure is the perfect candidate for two reasons: a) he's a killing machine, and b) he lost his legs in the war, so subliminal-ops are his only way to see any action. But he's also a dangerous candidate for one reason unknown to Mezign: Colin's true motive is to enter the mind of his catatonic daughter and bring her out of a coma.
